Griffith Observatory was more than ready to refresh their website after over twenty (yes, 20!) years of maintaining their previous collection of web pages. Our team completely rethought an engaging experience up-to-date with industry standards.
Night & Day
We worked with the Griffith Observatory to design an experience that felt as advanced and immersive it does to visit the observatory. We prioritized visual storytelling through the use of original photography and illustration.
In order to fully showcase this unique landmark we included a special effect, shifting the colors and imagery of the site between day and night based upon when you access the site.
All About the Content
As part of our site refresh, we conducted research to reorganize the content to be easily navigable for visitors. We then migrated twenty years of content into a new management system for an easier and more organized authoring experience.
Down to the Last Detail
Our team’s digital illustrations mimicked the line-drawing style found in Griffith’s astronomical maps, based on contours and cartography etchings.
